ABOUT US

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for all of our residents; to build bridges between different geographies and cultures; to provide leadership to get things done. Our core purpose is to build “community capital”, both financial and human. And with those resources, we seek to advance recreation, education and cultural projects throughout the community.

When municipal and school budgets are financially strapped, all too often we see arts and culture become a secondary priority. On the other hand, we know that properly nurtured recreational, educational and cultural programs can be tremendous economic assets, as well as providing a source of happiness and a sense of community. We know there are many people and organizations working hard to maintain a quality of life that builds community. We have seen that it takes vision, leadership and money to birth reality from dreams.

Our inaugural project was to assist the completion of Phase I, and then phase II of the Barrier-Free Park, which was planned by the City of Boynton Beach or many years.  This park was dedicated to providing all those with handicaps the ability to enjoy a park space with playground equipment built specifically for children with special needs.  The idea of a public-private partnership to further this project helped incubate the birth of the Foundation. We are extremely grateful to the elected and appointed officials who have worked on our behalf, as well as the support we have received from COBWRA and the Greater Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce.

The Greater Boynton Beach Foundation, along with the Broward/PalmBeach Realtors Association, has sponsored an annual Barrier Free 5K Race each year to help bring awareness and financial support for continued development of the Barrier Free Park.  This race continues to this day.  RACE

Today the Foundation is involved in a number of community project designed to promote recreation, education, and culture.

  • Helping spearhead the revitalizing of Forest Hills Park with new playground equipment, fixed sprinkler system, regraded baseball diamond, and more through a series of community picnics to bring awareness and usage of the newly upgraded park and soliciting private business and the City of Boynton Beach to aid efforts where needed.

  • Helped in saving Kids Kingdom Castle, an iconic landmark playground that was slated for demolition, that now has a new home in Forest Hills Park and a new design, soon to go to construction through community, private business, and City efforts.

  • The creation of Kids Dance Free program designed to bring all the cultural and social benefits Ballroom and Latin partnership dancing has to offer to every child regardless of their economic status.  This program will be launched in the summer of 2020 and will make full use of the brand new Cultural Center through inclusive programming.  The goal of the program will be to provide free dance lessons to any child residing in Boynton Beach, FL to be taught by certified instructors through a nationally recognized curriculum.  We thank Fred Astaire Dance Studios for their time in helping to bring this program into soon to be reality.

  • The Greater Boynton Beach Foundation also sits on the Leadership Board for the now under construction Town Square.  Our commitment in promoting naming rights for various aspects of Town Square is to raise funds, and along with vision of The City of Boynton Beach for this project, to direct those funds into various cultural, recreational, and educational programming for the community throughout the soon to open Cultural Center and Town Square.

We are a community of volunteers and receive no financial compensation for our efforts.  Building a greater of community centered around recreation, education and culture is all the reward we all seek.
